ICI- Final Project
Introduction
Part A
In this first part, we are to plan a construction of a building which involves architect, landscape architect, engineer, contractor and quantity surveyor. With our assigned roles, we have to produce documents that a necessary in a real construction project.
Part B
In this last part, we are to 'create' a company in relation to the roles we are assigned to. While creating the company, we have to include the company profile, financial information, name card, letterhead, envelope and roles of our respective 'occupation'.
Reflection
Through this project, I have learnt about the roles of my occupation (quantity surveyor) in a building project. The QS does not only calculate the cost of the project, but technically handles the financial issues in a project like collecting payments from clients and distributing it to the companies involved. The QS also prepares tender documents and contract documents for the building project. Apart from that, I also learnt how all the professionals come together to play a part in a building project. To me that is very important so that I know where I stand in a project. Honestly, being a future QS, I am quite afraid I will be lousy that preparing the documents and calculating the costs. But I suppose most people gain experience from past projects and especially their mistakes.
