Mathematics

Mathematics Exercise

Area and Volume

Firstly, I read the questions carefully to find out what I need to do. After that, I started drawing all the surface areas of the figure as stated in the question. After drawing the surface areas, I began to calculate the total surface area of the object but calculating each individual surface area and adding them up. Then I calculated the total volume of the object followed by constructing it afterwards.

Mathematical theories

Pythagoras Theorem
a^2 + b^2 = c^2\!\,

Trigonometry
\cos A=\frac{\textrm{adjacent}}{\textrm{hypotenuse}}=\frac{b}{\,c\,}\,.

Area & Volume
s = rθ

Area of circle = 1/2 rθ

Volume = Area x height
                        or
                1/3 x Area x Height

Reflection
This exercise has been a good practice for me especially in the calculation section of the exercise where it can help me for exams in the future. Whereas the construction part of this exercise, I wasn't so keen. Since this is just an exercise and not an assignment, I rushed through the constructing part of the exercise. However, by doing this exercise, I can see the bigger picture where mathematics can actually be used to aid the construction of an object. Other than that, this exercise has also made me manage my time well.

2nd Project
For our 2nd project, we need to choose a topic and from there we have to create a survey questionnaire. Upon collection of the data, we need to use statistics to analyse the data and interpret it. This assignment is designed to provide us students with a hands-on experience on how to conduct a survey, to organize and present the data. At the same time, we need to construct a infographic poster showing the statistics of the survey and the data collected.

Appendix
Study on the closeness towards parents among male and female

This survey is to fulfill the purpose of our Mathematics’ statistics assignment. Participation in voluntary and the information collected will be kept private and confidential. All participants will NOT be identified. You voluntarily agree to participate in this research project by filling the following questionnaire. You have the right to reject participation. Reflection
From this project, I have learned to create a survey, complete with questionnaire forms, graphs and info-graphic poster. Although I prefer to work alone, this project as taught me the importance of working as a group. It is so that we can accomplish what we cannot do alone. Overall I have to admit I enjoy this project in a sense that I get to do this project amongst friends. This assignment is also good experience taking place which is supposed to happen in this point of life where I'm gaining experience to soon venture out into the working world.
